Yea I know this aint a 2d or 3d stuff, but it could help for your 2d-3d concept. I found this today cleaning up my old HD, this is 4-5 years old for me and I find it kinda funny. Did you add a light to the scene and put the light's name into light1_Position? Otherwise, it won't show up on my end. -

Did you update your chipset drivers? I find that's the most overlooked driver set that adds the most stability. -

did you add a reflective map or an environment? thats usually the problem with the black reflectivity and for the mesh, try a normal modifier
