the old trick was to put an omni in the scene and turn it off (kills the default lighting) ramp up the environment ambient or material self illumination, useful when you want to see only the texture on the model
I tried mentalray as well, it's no different basically, I had it default tho, maybe some magic setup on mental ray would make this thing work, but again, I don't know how.
Concerning the fish, I posted a comment on Interlopers, but might as well say it here. If you still wanna keep it in, I suggest looking into the refract shader. It's shiny by default, refracts like ice and is transparent.
Hey, I'm not an 3D coat expert and there are maybe better ways. But with "Quick Pick" you can select the object that is right underneath your mouse no matter in which layer you are. The default shortcut is 'h'.
Side by side comparison of the default set and our set. (just lowpoly and bakes) I might have to redo the base of the arms and head because im not liking the shadows/shading I've got on the back)
I tried the iportflio template and few others, but the defaults are not my liking. And to customize i have to learn HTML/CSS, guess there is no other way around. Thank you iadagraca and Cay for you help.
It reminds me of the default Windows XP wallpaper, Bliss - in a good way :D Nice touch with the clouds. Quick question, and a basic one, how do you unwrap your sky-dome UVs?
If you simply doubleclick your mesh in the asset explorer window you will be able to edit your asset. There you can apply your texture, save it and then the your mesh will automatically default to your texture. :)
Use 2 components. By default, show the intact mesh. On picking up, "set visibility" of that to hidden, and set visibility of the harversted one to visible. Or better, use one, and just "set static mesh". B)
poop, maya's folder browsing is shit compared to max. I installed this program so I can remap the default windows file browse dialog super helpful. http://melloware.com/products/placesbarv1/
