The whole entrance scene to Columbia in Bioshock Infinite was something amazing. Last of Us suprised me with their mostly hand-painted realistic textures. Loved the breakdown on polycount.
Really like that character with the sword for that unnanounced thing. The cartoony stuff is awesome in my opinion. Maybe do more realistic stuff to round your folio out?
The realistic shading shows a preview of your normal map and specular in the viewport. The color change is a result of mixing those elements. If you render does it look the same?
Red looks more realistic and warm blue maybe fpr a hotel floor but not the living room. The floor looks nice but misplaced because it looks cheap or to old.
If your goal is to land work as soon as possible, finish all the ultra boring realistic ones because that is all most studios seem to be working with stylewise these days.
Really love the style of this, it really has that 2K feel of bordering a realistic look with cartoonish features. I could see this guy running up to me in Bioshock!
@Alemja That answers my questions exactly, thanks a ton! And that is good for me, because creating more realistically proportioned characters is something I need to gain experience in.
Keep in mind that Epic likes to make their characters all slightly larger than the average person, so you might not want to use IronGuard as a realistic example.
Can we see the Spec and Gloss maps for the chain gun section? I'd be interested to see what your process was to make those realistic material definitions.
