For reference, if anyone else wants to know where the tutorial dekard mentioned is, Chris Holden posted it here: http://www.game-artist.net/forums/tutorials/182-step-step-techniques-tiling-textures-3ds-max.html
Darn, I remember learning my first XSI tutorials from there. "downloads temporarily disabled" , I'm guessing that they are getting hammered by people who wanted to make sure to get all tutorials before they disappear forever.
I would start with basic tutorials from the internet in the first year. Until you know exactly where to go and what you like to learn. Start witn a beginner tutorial for Blender to get the basic understanding.
ah awesome thanks for the replies guys!, was just following a tutorial and creasing is all a bit new to me, the tutorial I was checking out seemed to be dealing in creases with objs but it was as I suspected, thanks for the various work arounds.
Hello Krabat, nope! There is no requirement to use any specific 3D software for this contest. Mixamo has tutorials/workflows for every major 3D software here: http://www.mixamo.com/c/tutorials if you need help. Cheers!
Would love to know your techniques in a video tutorial form (every tutorial of hand painted texturing I have found have been speed runs or I have to pay loads for them) These look great!
5 mins tutorial on this, the mothod is well known and it works, just tune it up a little more to feet your needs, this was rushed just for the tutorial as i am in a hurry. I feel good for contibuiting to the community :P
If you're going for the chibi look of the model, the legs should be thicker, and the feet the barest hint of bumps at the bottom of the legs. You might want to take a look at this simple drawing tutorial, http://www.polykarbon.com/tutorials/chibi/chibiart.htm.
Hey Joe! Thanks for the response and for making the tutorial! I actually do have the HP set up like in your tutorial but it's still treating it like one bake. Could there be a setting that I might have to adjust?
This is probably my favorite Link fan model. Cheers for the tutorial too, I'm surprised it hasn't been thought of before or at least in tutorial form. The results are rather stunning and I can't wait to see him finished!
