Looking good, great improvement. In my opinion I think the broken away parts still look too soft, I feel like concrete would break away and crack more than be smoothed off (that's just getting nitpicky because I think its looking pretty good). -

I don't think this was the way to go about this and I'm scared to look at the polycount. I'll keep trying but I think I'd need more practice with modeling before being able to make something presentable. -

The edges on the HP are way too sharp, if you make them more soft you will achive better normal map bake results :D The texture doesn't seems to be right to me, it looks more like cement ... I don't think you are using any specular/gloss map,right ? -

Yes, but in your example steps, step 3 is apply Turbochamfer. Just clarifying so the OP isn't confused. Also, @wisegold when using chamfer/turbosmooth mod combo, sometimes the standard chamfer will give better results than quad default. Especially for those nice, soft baking bevels. -
Re: Polyurethane foam deformation
Create a height map of the face. Use a Displace modifier on the foam to make it match the face heightmap. You can use a Volume Select modifier below the Displace to select the inner-most vertices of the foam, and enable Soft Select to give the Displacement a falloff. I'll work up a sample a bit later. -

I also agree to the square soft / disney (kingdom hearts style) especially if we go somewhere near that squaresoft town posted here some time ago (which is just a master piece). I think that theme would work well and could be diverese enough for everyone working on it to enjoy. -

Height Wip (Still!) Found myself getting way ahead of myself yet again, nodes all over the place. Was trying cracked glass but just couldn't get it how I wanted do, turned the 'cracks' into soft crackles on what will be painted windows. The panels without the crackles will be unpainted glass. -

Ye the brightness of the 'lamp' is good in the paintover above, as it's the pivot and focal point of the scene. However, u gotta have the supporting lights (cool, softer) to backup the composition. Try placing a soft one upstrairs, also to the right of the camera. The far-end one could go entirely, it's not really adding… -

@Rooster, they definitely do. but as the bullets fall, they're going terminal velocity. Unless you've got a real soft spot on your noggin, you'll get get a bruise or knick from the impact. If they fire guns at up to (I think) it was 65º, the bullets will still carry enough inertia to penetrate the body :( -

If there aren't any hard edges on the model itself (please also check the exported file, not just the mesh in your scene) you might want to take a look at the settings of the low-poly mesh inside xNormal. There is an option that determines whether to use the information from the file or all hard or soft edges:
