Sadly my studio doesn't have a huge amount of variety, except for a few koreans, canadians, and two chinese folks.. But I have become friends with quite a few black game developers who are all great. I know a bunch of ex-Rockstar San Diego devs who shred it!
Solid progress, but what's with the odd materials, sheet metal roof, weird exterior on the station main. Even the placeholder gas pumps look weird. Feels original at least, like a truly alternate reality instead of just "but what if Hitler won?" and then everything looks exactly the same except there's swastikas everywhere.
Really cool character design! All the materials are coming across really well except for the skin. To me it is reading as a younger person's skin, but at the same time you have sculpted lots of wrinkles on it giving him an older, more worn, appearance. The two ideas seem to be contrasting. Looks great otherwise!
Heh, thanks Ben! :) Except for me I already had been modelling since I was 12! I just never...ever had an engine or worked with any team that was good enough to even get past planning. So i've been a self taught 3d artist since 12.
It's standard issue with Shadow Maps. In case you wonder. You CAN'T fix it. "Fixing" it will cause problems in other areas. Your best bet is to stick to default Crytek settings and do not mess with them (with exception of shadow resolution). You can also play with Shadow Cascades inside ToD Editor.
I have now refined all the element except for the belts and some minor details like smaller crosses and spikes on the shoes. So next up is to take another pass on the highpoly to get in that next level of detailing. So that means I will try to finish up the face under the coming week.
I have a technical question about zbrush, im trying to polypaint this pilot girl, i can do it without problem in every subtool except one (the base cloth). I'm new to this software so if any of you guys know which may be the problem please let me know ;)
I really like where you're going with this, a nice unique and well executed touch of the original concept. My only gripe except obvious UV-fixes are the alpha-planes on the roof, they need to be double sided so don't forget to fix that later, it'll help sell the silhouette. Good work! :)
a wimpy update been so busy with work lately I havent had a chance to touch this at all.... but played with lighting, got rid of the DOF except during the moon explosion added in some nicer "glowy ambient" lights (light balls?) And played with distance fog some (Will upload a video later)
