No:) Use whatever topo tool you are comfortable with. If it is organic I usually use Zbrush but if it mechanical I will use 3dsmax. Try using Zbrush - Zbrush UV Master for Unwrapping...amazing
LRoy thanks! About 20 subtools for the gun, some of them have been merged. The shoes and trousers were retopoed in 3dsmax using the concept zbrush meshes. The gun is all zbrush.
Also check out the Spacing Tool. http://download.autodesk.com/us/3dsmax/2012help/index.html?url=files/GUID-D82476F1-FE3F-4B51-BC73-868B0A28281-309.htm,topicNumber=d28e60752
Ensure you're running the latest service packs and hotfixes/patches: www.autodesk.com/3dsmax-updates If that doesn't help... I'm not really sure, you've not provided much information, or is there literally nothing more to it?
Are you kidding me? MoPKnit for Maya and Slideknit for 3dsmax. (The MoPKnit link has more info on both, the slideknit link is straight link to the actual script which can be hard to find)
Just found it! http://help.autodesk.com/view/3DSMAX/2015/ENU/?guid=GUID-A1D1C3D4-3E7A-4269-8399-A9E5A9C9FEFF It's a pity the customize menu takes over a minute to appear in this version.
The Filter, which you can download on the first post is a .sbs file. Can you please tell us, how to use that filter ? How to use the filter, for example with 3dsmax and Vray ?
Does 3DsMax have gamma correction for textures, and for the viewport? The reason I ask is because whenever a texture is brighter or darker than it ought to look in Maya, usually the gamma setting is the issue.
