Hey Dustinmaertz, I'd say you're off to a good start. Here's some crit: I have no idea where I'm supposed to look. There is no focal point. My eye goes straight to the brightest point, which is the door with the strong blue emissive. If you want that as your focal point, you'd need to shift your camera so that it's in one…
Some important info about using it... you have to be in a Perpective viewport and you have to be above the surface looking down towards the z=0 grid plane. So, it's kind of fiddly. Can save a lot of time though. Some details that might help you... ====================== From: Zola Sent: Tuesday, January 06, 2004 4:34 AM…
Thank you! Ack, now that you point it out, it is very obvious! Do you think it could be remedied by having asymmetrical texturing, or do you think it'd be worth going back to the highpoly and shifting things around?
Okay, so here is the block in, at 8 heads, Looking at this I feel like I should thicken her legs a bit. Going to do a pose to see if it matches the feeling of the refrence. I really need to speed up my work pace. Thanks for paint over PyrZern @BagelHero: sorry for late reply, here is a paint over to illustrate my point,…
Pav3d: The hair was painted in MARI. I tried a lot of different techniques for this model (including rendering fiber mesh in ZBRush), but hand painting the hair turned out to be the best one. There are five different hair planes/unique textures on the model. The key in texturing was breaking the hair in different layers:…
Thanks selvesteHE, You make good points!. And you're completely right about my last painting, it was way off. Not enough thought into the perspective. We are trying to learn the fundamentals of perspective and color/value theory, whilst doing that we are sort of ' letting go ' and doing sketches like the one I just did…
Trust me on this, one cannot paint that kind of stuff convincingly if there is no good mass definition to hold it up. Thats the reason why yours look like they are "sharpied on" - its just a thin black make-up line on yours, because you assumed that, since it deep, it must be black. But on the reference you are looking at,…
Thanks for all the replies guys. Merging the hairs into the head slipped my mind, I'll take care of that and try pushing and pulling some of those darks. I intentionally avoided dark edges, I think what is actually the problem is not the darkest darks not being dark enough, but the 'light' darks not being light enough. We…
Will you be printing in color? I might be better to get a separate printer and scanner if you are just going to be printing off black and white documents. Laser printer are much cheaper and more reliable in the long term compared to inkjet.
