You have to click the reset uv button when you switch ebtween uv-channels. It´s a feature apparently. Had the same issue. -

Oh you're animating a biped? Somehow I missed that. It has its own set key button in the "Key Info" rollout of the biped menu. -

It mentions four of the buttons. It doesn't mention that 1 and 3 turn your ship as well and Z, space and X make the camera freak out. -

I've moved on to just selecting the verts and having a button for set vertex normal to y value 1.0 seems to work for what I'm doing. -

no they mean chamfer...the button is labelled chamfer it just takes w/e edge(s) you have selected and just splits them into two -

EDIT: Oops Sorry ^^; Try putting the subobject on a different layer and then click the hide button in the layer manager. That should cut whatever it was from the render. -

Ahh, press Z. That's the default button for "Zoom Extents All" in Max. It should make the model take up the full size of all the viewports. -
