mmg007, great texture work on the outer columns. Is that painted by hand or with the help of photo reference? Ziegel999: great start. Also, watch out for the tiny extrusion that is like a band on the outer railing of the platform. I forgot to post an update last week. Since then, I've scaled it down twice and started…
If you're just straight sub-d modeling the highpoly it is quite painless as it's all square/angular shapes.(cylindrical cutout isn't a problem either as the detail is still intersecting square/angular forms) Personally I'd model it planar by edge-extrusion, lay out my basic forms and edgeloops with minimal geo, add control…
You should destroy your hands and make new hands Yeah, I can't make good hands either... but it's one of the hardest parts ever. Gwot had a really good hand extrusion series of images that helped me out. Practice dem hands Also reconsider the way the model is posed. You might get bad deformation if you stick to the odd…
Thanks :) Point taken. I had thought about the brick geometry and I wanted to try out this method to see how well it worked. I'm gonna go with it for now because it adds a bit a style, even if it sacrifices recognition (as towers/walls) as well as optimisation, and next time I'll go for a grounding plane base with some…
those extrusions around the eyes are not going to go over well if you plan on sculpting, which i assume you are because you are displaying your mesh in smooth preview. also careful where the legs attach it appears as if your lions arm is clipping through his chest. that said, the shilouette is nice, and i realy like the…
D'oh... honestly, my one and only critique on this is that its just a street cone. The cone is decent if you're a beginner. Not to toot my own horn, but you may find this useful: http://www.adambromell.com/?page_id=27 My honest-to-god suggestion for you is to expand yourself technically and artistically and push to do more…
some crits: - very geometrical shapes at some parts - almost straight extrusions - textres are very flat (hardly any contrast in them,- obvious AO bake makes it look as if the software did more of a texture job as you yourself - not much color variation its basicly 3 colors: green, brownish and blue and all very washed out…
Well I model using the edge extrusion method, so my tris tend to go all over the place... And because of this the shading of my model is a bit funky. I guess if I wanna clean it I'll just triangulate the damn thing and flip 'em that way. Seems to be my only choice. And I think I'll follow what you said Jeffro and post in…
It should come off without any major problems. If the angles are too steep, lets say over 90 degrees, you might have to soften the normals on your low poly mesh. It also depends on how much the models differ from each other. If you added a major extrusion, the normals will be hard pressed to display hard angles. What…
You still need to gather more reference and actually study the shape and form of the objects. Just this front section is still not right. Here's a load of reference from just a very quick Google search. http://forums.blendernewbies.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=408 The upward extrusion you have made doesn't match the reference,…
