There actually is a reason this time. I modeled the entire thing(with the exceptions of the tires) as one mesh. I was trying to not have any wasted uv space by not floating anything in front of it. I am finally finishing the base model. The most important pieces have been set. There are some missing surface elements but those are going to be set using floating geometry. Here you can see a very quick HP (using turbosmooth). It is of course not the final HP. Just a quick set up to see how the shapes turn out. -

The wheels have way too many unneeded edge loops especially when compared to the general poly count of the rest of the bike, same for the piece at the very bottom of the bike right in front of the rear wheel. I don't care for the camera movement - it feels forced and artificial. A steady camera would, IMHO, work better. I also can't tell what the floating white bits are. I thought birds initially, but now they seem to be giant dandelions... The skydome doesn't really look like a sunset; take a look at some of the sky textures… -

Whatever floats your boat really. I honestly prefer 3ds max over maya. The modifiers are great, there are some pretty useful maxscripts, and as mentioned before there are a lot of tutorials out there for max. You can learn one and just transfer your skills over to the other, its not that big of a deal. It doesn't hurt… -
