Yeah you could split the chains into two separate bake groups, alternate every other link in the chain, then you won't get those intersection errors. You could probably use bake groups in a few other spots too.
You can save a lot of polygons on the arch. What is the poly count btw? Also, looking at the stone texture base. That should only be a few polys. The flat surface should just be two right angle triangles. Too many polys.
This. And it was already mentioned, but read the two tutorials on the Toolbag site and check out Andrew Maximov's videos on Youtube, he does a nice summarization for artists. The blog posts for Remember Me are a little more tech oriented, but check those out too.
I think it'd be more tolerable if they weren't churning them out quite so quickly; a new superhero movie every two months is a bit much, especially given that the plots are more or less identical in every other movie too.
yep. Can't stand it when you have to watch two people talk to each other and cringe at how horrible the facial/lip animation is. This actually happens A LOT too, which is disappointing. talk about taking you out of the game.
I like it ! :) Nice concept & sculpt. There are two things that bother me : As someone already pointed, the hard "mustache" (actually the upper lips lol) is strange :poly141: Also the "freakles" pass looks blurred or too low res :( cool character :\
Lighting looks great and the subtle things like the window shadows and the light leaking through the door frame are really nice, but the bloom is way too strong in my opinion. The third shot is literally all bloom. :poly124: The last two as well.
The first piece's texture and shader look great! ...the other two could use similar treatment. Also the assets are too blocky, give them a more interesting broken silhouette. Think Uncharted 2. Looking forward to seeing your progress!
Nothing too exciting but I just uploaded two small scripts — randrot (apply random rotation to selected items) and saferemove (remove selected edges, unless they are a UV boundary). You can download them here: http://benredmond.net/resources.html
Thank you for the reply. I'll be starting to try and implement your observations. Just one thing, what did you mean by "nostrils are defined too much into the tip"? No enough difference between the two parts and their intersection or is it something about their shape?
