I believe there are 8. I am still trying to get used to workflow and the do's and don'ts of the program. Would that be something I should watch or keep an eye on and could it possibly be causing this problem?
Oh wow, that looks like a bug. It happens when you paste into RGB channels as well. Go to Edit->Color Settings and turn off "Use Dither 8-bit/channel images"
What format did you use when importing the greyscale texture? Try greyscale, it basically allows you to import 8 bit (think of one channel from RGB) textures uncompressed.
I agree with Brian, you could really add geometry to make those wraps visible, also 8 sided handle is cool but it could use bevel to catch some nice reflects.
I'm using 16bit depth displacement PSD's. Greyscale wont even import, RGB imports, but when breaks when used. 8-bit works...sorta, but gives aweful stair stepping.
This is the exact same error I get when i click the Model button. The settings and help menus both work though. Also, I tried out beta 8 and it still crashes.
Omg I used to do this with the max auto-save... When max does it's "crash every 2 mins" trick (I'm still on max 8 at work) I wound up with scene4_recover_recover_recover_recover.max
I love the one on the top, especially the abdomen area,looks much cooler than the tipical eightpack of 8 spheres kind of abs. I love the big chunky legs too :D
