Xnormal (in regards to it's ability to transfer images into normal maps like the nVidia filter) , I find, is generally used to do just that. Either to create a normal map version of an image that has no real 3d aspect...like floor tiles...or to create a "detail layer" to be slapped on top of your normal map that you get… -
