That's beautiful bro. I love how there's lots of dark depth in the deeper sheets (probably from realtime AO?). I tried finding that UE hair shader that you mentioned, the one that fades the sheets based on V-dot-N, I think there's something in here. Quoted from their photorealistic character article:

Hey man, I go to AI too. good to see ya on here. For the model, I see some problems with mesh flow and optimization. I see a few n-gons which are kinda ugly looking and a fair amount of wasted polys. Looks good otherwise, though I'm no gun expert.
Good stuff. Here is the initial bake that I'll use to power the diffuse. Final product will be diffuse only so I'll use the AO, cavity, prt-P, prt-N, and bent normals as a base for value. I may go back in Zbrush and block out some basic colors from polygroups for masks.
lol so you are telling me that there is not any other way how to get a 13 milion mesh out of zbrush? only to break it into chunks? there must be a solution...? (the purpose explaing would be longer, i just n eed the hipoly mesh including the uvw map i have done for it to import it into other program.
