I agree with the foundations part. It is really helpful to learn the basics of art (although they can be learned elsewhere for less $$). Also, being critiqued constantly is good, as I wasn't the best at receiving critique a few years ago. I heavily disagree with the other students being as dedicated. There are a lot of…
Actually I just looked up the license and yes UDK is not free at all only for non-commercial and educational. I want to teach how to make games at the core. I love doing it. Its free for me. Most kids, college students, indie/hobbyists dont have the money to do anything other than free.
No, an internship is a learning experience. As a student you work at a company for something like 6 months. The point is to an insight on what it's like to work at an actual company. Interns sometimes do get paid but it's usually a lot less than a full time job. What you are thinking of is just called entry level or junior…
I would lose the links to other artists on your home page. It always seems like a student thing to do, and you don't want to give off that image. Also, if a prospective employer comes to your site to potentially hire you, right away you are giving them links to other artists for them to check out.
Thnaks Everyone! Narbarian- Yeah I work with Eric. Was an honor to have him texture the Hirez version! Blaisoid -Yeah me too! its for a game idea I am developing with a few of my students. Dark- The chain will be connected to his prisoner. NJC- Thanks! The skin was super fun! All hand painted in Photoshop.
Perna, i didn't say i don't have a problem with the killing and all that. but personally i find that kind of writing "lazy". i'm not saying that gang-bangers should suddenly become harvard students in their vocabulary range... i dunno, that's just how it feels to me. it also highlights the everlasting double standard...…
I think theres something wierd about that normal map, did you bake the lowpoly to itself or did you have a proper highpoly? Sorry to hear your student licence has run out, if you can afford it you could get the monthly thing for a bit and sort out the scratches and stuff I guess.
since I haven't posted anything here, yet - first of all: Thanks a ton for the awesome tool! You guys really rock. I am going to use this tool in an upcoming lecture for the students to use. B) (edit) nevermind the request. My file got corrupted. Have to try if it actually works first. o:)
Thanks guy's! :) Really glad you like it. Yeah I love that pixel art is making a comeback. It takes you back in time to when a few pixels could be so much! Haha, yeah I actually made it in a rush for my students then finished it at home :) And the awesome thing about pixel art is that everything is supposed to be tileable…
Hey I liked your showreel until the last piece, that low FPS animation looks very amateur and ruins the rest of your video. I don't thing theres anything wrong with the actual animation, just make sure it runs smoothly at atleast 24fps, otherwise it just looks like an old student project.
