I'm pretty sure that's the magnetic one you saw. There was another site but it's been ages since I looked into this so I'm trying to find it. Why not start with studying digital anatomy figures/scans first and then maybe get an expensive maquette when you're sure you will continue sculpting?
"Most 2D animation gets outsourced to Asia" you have a source for this ? I imagine the massive need for inbetweeners and cell painters kind of went out the window with the advent of digital As far as viable...there is always going to be a market for it...even if it's niche It's not going to make you a millionaire, but…
Totally humble haha I really just come up with something simple that doesn't require explanation, like 3D artist, digital artist or 3D animator (but I don't do animation :P). People get the general idea if the word 3D is in it, and automatically think pixar or something like that.
okay so i should be done with this normal now that it looks fine? My next step would be to make a cavity map correct? Then my diffuse map? Thanks again for the help the tutorial i was watching on digital tutors kinda just ends after the normal maps bakes D: .
The creator of Rhino, also created Moi...so he knows his stuff. He created Moi for speed and ergonomic UI. It's a solid modeler, so mostly Boolean tools. Rhino is a surface modeler, so the tools focus on splines. For concepts, and anything that remains purely digital...keep it simple.
heh you might wanna investigate why i get this when i try to access your website: This site is blocked by your employer EA Digital Illusions CE AB. Reason: The Websense category "Adult Content" is filtered. URL: http://www.ldaustinart.com/paul just a heads up
Awesome. I know this is a "games art" forum but, as an artist who is chained to my desk and digital media I love seeing "real" media being posted here. Personally, I encourage it and would love to see more on these boards. Even none game related stuff. Thanks for sharing.
How well do they work for digital painting compared to the wacoms? Comparable to the Graphires? For that price, I'd like to try their 6 x 8. I've been begging for years to get a Wacom, but damn they're expensive. I'm too embarrased to join any more sketch groups using a mouse.
So without a BA your screwed if you wanna work in the US? Cause the college I went to, that taught 3D, was formally a web integrator degree. Although I'll be getting a digital animation degree after my internship is done. My chances of sometime working in the US are shite, aren't they?
There are alot of nice tutorials here on the polycount wiki: http://wiki.polycount.com/Digital%20Sculpting It definitely helped me a ton. Basically it takes alot of practice, but you can use the help of alphas to get a nice random pattern to work off of. I think gnomon has a great DVD for this too.
