Hey, sorry for the delayed response I thought polycount would email me when I got a reply. I look forward to seeing your portfolio and I hope we can work together. Thanks, David
Sorry for the long delay, life has been kicking my ass but I finally was able to resume my art work. Here is the final game character. Thanks everyone who helped me, I really appreciate it.
thanks guys, sounds reassuring! i'll have a look at this ASAP. someone at the maya team must have finally heard about this 'mirai' app and started adding things bit by bit. only took them a decade or more. ;)
I been waiting for a simple 3d model painter for decades! something easy to paint handpaint textures style without all the specular, softness and metallic map stuff. a light software not so heavy like Substance Painter.
Update: Did a bit more work on the base layer of the metal trim, tried adding some subtle brown/light blue into the texture. Looking for feedback and suggestions, I'm thinking about starting on the scratches and other decal soon
@purplekami Thnx man! Definately gonna add a lot of decals and stickers etc. Here is the final low of the chair, whithout the seat-belt because that has to be rigged first. Baked with marmoset 3 which works like a charm.
hey, thanks for looking into this for me Obscura; I was hoping to have quite a few decal geo done this way to avoid using loads of different alpha maps. Plus it'd be nice to see in the viewport as I work, artistically :(
[HP] Sorry for the very delayed response. I didn't get ping'd when you messaged on Polycount. I will take a look and see what the issue is during lunch at work since I don't have 2016 at home.
After a small delay, thanks Odeca that's some great feedback. I was able to correct most points, except the pinching in the buttstock. Here's some screens of the final hipoly, so far, with 50 round rum. And now on to the lowpoly.
There is a decent amount of info here https://www.artstation.com/artwork/59Nz1 They mention modular meshes for the blocky pieces below, decals for the eroded stone, probably a bunch of different texture blends for everything to give variation, detail maps too.
