To all the Epic artists on the forum: You guys kick so much ass it's not even funny. Even a year later after I first saw the game in action on the 360 in our conference room, the art in the game still makes me grin like a moron.
that stuff is a year old already btw. The paper was for last years siggraph, but even before he was working on these things. and always remember that people have to put in their papers like half year before the actual conference for review... then add another half year for actually writing it
Do some searches. Open world art systems have been explained in presentations at various game developer conferences. Also check our wiki. Also, use paragraphs. Also, thread title would be better as a question. This is not a "thread" until it has actual info in it. Right now it's just a question.

In MASSIVE quantities. Seriously, go watch the press conference,…
I live in a town with a very small games industry, it's active and growing but we're very much contained in our bubble. I wish I'd realized sooner the benefit of getting out of that bubble by going to conferences in other cities. Networking is so useful, I feel behind at establishing myself in the industry but getting…
I dunno how much of an advantage it really gives you, but there's always a chance that meeting someone in person will help them remember you better, if you come off as a memorable person then you are more likely to stand out, this isn't something you can do over the internet. The experience of going to a conference though…
