+1 @TTools A succinct explanation which I hope clarifies for the OP **WHY** the necessity for underscores, especially when as creative's we do by and large 'inhabit' digital space via doodling our creations, so at the end of the day forestall 'rogue space' by following convention: period_end_string Cheers.
I believe Udims (and Mari itself) were developed at Weta digital as a means of authoring massive texture resolution on vfx assets in a very simple and artist-friendly way. So, for imstance, a hero close-up shot might have 100+ x 8K maps per channel.
Don't be too hasty to throw out things that will differentiate you from others though. The physical sculpts I have on my folio often go down well despite them being only peripherally related to digital art and not really of mind blowing quality, if I'm honest.
This new-found digital age of religion is only because richard dawkins and christopher hitchens have slain religion so much in the past 5 years, lol. check out www.richarddawkins.net very interesting news stories and documentarys to-do with science, religion, etc. I recommend it :P
Thanks again for the kind words guys. I'm...still a bit new to serious posting, but if I'm working on a new project, should I make a new thread in the P'n'P section or the Digital Sketchbooks? I'm a little confused because it seems like some people do both. X)
Yeah the Digital Tutors stuff I've always found pretty basic. The 3ds Max bibles are ok, id consider them more for reference than tutorial though. Paul Neale is doing some Masterclasses over at CGTalk: http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=59&t=1115204
unless you try and pick them up at the same time as your xbox, thinking you should get the official cables. those are $50. i was just pointing out that he shouldn't expect them to come in the box like they used to. and... holy crap, hdmi is digital?! :poly124:
I would maybe flip the position of the 2D concepts, and Traditional work with your 3D in the menu. Example: Concepts Traditional 3D The way you have it now employers will go straight for the 3D first, they may not make it to the Digital paintings if they get turned off by what they see in 3D.
You should have sold limited rights and put out guidelines for its distribution. Just curiosity, what kind of deal did you manage to make? Seeing as I'm trying to get into digital work, it'd be nice to know what potential there is in flogging some hobby works.
What I usually do is paint everything as 1 on the root then start working away. If I notice any white areas on the root I know something is off and easier to work that way. Gnomon has some rigging and skinning tutorials and Digital Tutors have some too.
