assuming you use max, select "elements" and delete the proper ones ? or the cut and merge is not result of a internal copy, but the consequence of max's illogic behavior (see the Lightwave > 3dsmax 9 thread)
Polycruncher was rolled into 3dsmax 2009 as part of the creative extensions. Might have to be on subscription to get it? Might be available in The Area too? It will be in standard 2010, not that its going to help you that much now...
Just an other question Where is the polycounter under 3dsmax ? i know the "7" button but i never managed to find the real polygon counter box, sorry im a lightwave user.
By default 3Dsmax use small size texture map for display in the viewport. Try to go to View->Viewport Configuration->Display performance and put like 4096 pixels in the "Texture maps" field. Could help
3DSMax is giving me the feeling that it's not even considering my specular when rendering. do you know a decent software that I can use to preview my 3D models with their maps? that would be appreciated. ;)
Try this: Exit 3ds Max. Rename this folder: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2015 - 64bit Start 3ds Max. If that doesn't work, then you'll need to re-install the product.
topology flow looks good to me so far... just need make them all uniform, too many big polygons there... if you're using 3dsMax there's a quadrify function I've heard that helps?
xref is the term to look for in max: http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/3ds-max/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2015/ENU/3DSMax/files/GUID-F9CE15BD-FD57-4671-8F3A-8E742B766555-htm.html
Excellent work mate. Blender is getting better and better. I am also a previous 3dsmax user as well. I still love the program though but with Autodesk prices, it had to take a back seat :- )
