Used to have this happen in Max years ago, re-applying / refreshing the invisible objects material would solve it temporarily. My guess back then was that Max needed more VRAM, and was simply swapping data out of VRAM haphazardly to deal with it.
maybe go a different route, swap UVW with XYZ channel and morph/ tweak the UV-mesh in the viewport and once done swap it back- thats how I do that kind of stuff in max and some scripts.
swapping should just work, but a other option, could be to setup static switches, in the material, so things can be swapped between the winter, and the summer network within the material.
For commador: On top: Slag with color map (AO with blending multiply on 150,150,150 background) ..and with alpha map in alpha channel. Bottom: Slag with Ambient Occlusion as color map - overexposed.

Sure, or just using non SAG actors. The point is, there are options for games that didn't exist for TV and film. SAG does not have the games industry by the balls. It will be interesting to see a strike. I am not sure what kind of leverage SAG has over game production to force their demands to be taken seriously. It will…
I've updated the script to improve functionality and remove a bug whereby if you swapped the export type manually it wouldn't swap back. Also a check to ensure you have something selected.
