Figured it out with the help of the Allegorithmic forums. Yay! At some point, I was messing with the settings and accidentally changed the Cooker size from 4096 to 1. Causing all my nodes to run at 1x1.
Cheers for the suggestions! I will try each one very soon as I've entered Allegorithmic's contest and will be baking more normals in the next couple of weeks. Will post results with each method as I'm done.
I emailed the Allegorithmic the other day asking if I could just have Painter on subscription (i already have designer) and they told me to just watch out for the Steam Sale!

It looks like the normal map is displaying the wrong way out on the grips Have you got flipped UVs there? Even if you do I'd call it a bug and moan to Allegorithmic about it

I'm definitely gonna try this out & the pricing scheme looks good, similar to allegorithmic and others in offering indie licensing/subscription based. The UI looks great too so much features
