that was in every other unity version, too: free versions get the default light skin and pro users have the option to switch to a dark skin. no point in it imo
Right click on the object, go to object properties, and check "Edges Only". If the default setting is different, there is a setting somewhere for that... can't remember where (check the help file).
yeah yeah i used zubtoolmaster, it does help! But it should be included by default. Maybe it is now? Trying to test the latest mac version, but theres no demo? WTF

viewport pulldown menu- preferences, somewhere in there is default lighting =) nice props by the way, but the walls and ceiling are a completely different texel density, also what prior said =)
Update! Background etc is just because I stuck the images in my default portfolio PSD, although it makes it look like I'm entering it into a comp or something.
