Nope, there is no problem with the mesh and the settings. I opened up a new file, added the deformer with default settings and the same happens again. Deleted the whole preferences - nothing. Just try to find time where you can, there is no magic formula. Don't go along with this 'give up everything' BS, do not sever relationships or down-time with friends, you'll look back and regret it.
