Lately I've taken a few swings at projecting an AO Map/Dirtmap from a high poly prop for the low poly prop's texture. Stupid things happen, mainly raycasting issues. Here's a pic of the resulting AO map generated by Max using Mental ray. I'm projecting this using a cage, and the cage envelops the model as it should.…
Thanks for all the comments! Ill try to post some more pics of the props, and ll probably do a breakdown of the whole thing later on. :] Oniram: counting the different shapes of modules etc I think its about 45-50 props right now :] Alright, so now I actually recorded a video of me modelling this prop: But its like... 50…
I fixed the spec on some of the props and here are some more prop renders as requested by David3D.The I am also looking to model some additional props after I get the lighting correct. Thanks for all the comments guys. You really know how to boost a guys confidence! <3 PS: The order of images goes - (1)Model with fully…
installed UE4.18 and redid the lighting, tweaked almost all material colors, without post processing this time. Also made some small props..slowly getting back into this! Made the base material colors for this prop with white values for instanced material colors usage: started making smaller refboards per prop: Some new…
Hi! Props for attaching files :-B Taking a look at the lowpoly, I'd say with beveled edges and the resulting mesh shading, hard edges become redundant. While hard edges need UV splits (when baking a normal map), not every edge along a UV split needs to be shaded hard. I would use use hard edges deliberately in places where…
@tynew Your environment look pretty good I suggest to warm the light on the left and use emission static light pool table light. I wonder if you use a lot of trim sheet with your texture and how do you do to a lot of props so fast? I feel I am slow when I see a lot of props that I need to do. The next step I will do the…
<updates> MOAR moss! New hanging vines for the cave entrance, now i have a good separation between the kelp, seaweed and the rest of the vegetation. Added some more greybox story props to get an idea of the variety of props i'm gonna need. (a lot) Implemented a light function to simulate clouds blocking light dynamically,…
Small Update! Added a few more props and played around with lighting a little. Still been pretty busy I've only been able to get a few props done but slowly getting there. I've also added a 'Work in Progress' post to my artstation since in about halfway through and thought its a good time to get it thrown up there. So you…
You add story by thinking about what has happened to the prop, it's an ax so the first questions that come to my mind; Has it been sharpened recently? Has it been used recently? How old is the wood? Is the wood beginning to rot? Has the blade ever been chipped when it was miss swung and hit a rock? When you're creating a…
Those are all great! I like the last one, it looks like an angry bum, painted his face white and ran into your shirt. The 3D props are pretty cool. The normal/bump map on the newspaper stand looks to be going the wrong way? They are a bit noisier then I like my props but thats personal taste. I've also been working on way…
