Hi @dllxtt, Thank you! I'll keep them highpoly, no plans to turn all into handpainted, I love doing these. But I'll be working on full characters, including handpainted, and hopefully, I can get some feedback here at polycount when the time comes. At the moment I have a pbr one in the making (Arthas). -

Difference between legacy shaders and PBR, Blender internal works like the first one. Plus it's no longer supported. Mat caps work in Blender how they are supposed to, the problem is in your geometry (you can get better idea of what is wrong if you disable mat cap). It subdivides more and thus change quality? -

Thanks, I've since updated it (below) but the spec is still black. I'm guessing you mean reflection channel? In this case I'm using PBR roughness/Metal and since wood isn't metal I've made it pure black. I'm 99% sure that map should be pure black but if not please let me know. -

@minifigmaster125 As you can now it depends on the piece you need to make, but for example, a fire extinguisher I had to make using PBR. Made this prop in about 18 horus, had to make it in 3 days, but usually if I want to make a more quality asset, I spend like a week , depending on the asset. -

The normal map on your barrel still feels too noisy over the painted parts, and as for the crate have you thought of taking one or two of those nails and actually modeling them out? It could add variety as well and a more unique silhouette. Are you going for PBR or just staying with diff, spec and norm? -

All of your stuff is way too clean. You need to add wear and tear to all of it. I would also convert it to PBR if you haven't done that since it's pretty much becoming industry standard, esp if ur going for a next gen prop artist spot like ur folio seems to be aimed at. -

Looks nice. Maybe you could make it a little more rough and add some dirt/wear and tear or fingerprints/smudges? If you're wanting to explore PBR some more I would look into working more with the roughness map it can really help give that believable detail and push your work further. -

As of CRYENGINE 3.6 and the PBR system that comes with it, you have to put your Gloss Map in the Alpha of the Normal and then sav eit as the crytiff preset you've mentioned. That also answers your second question. The detail mapping in CRYENGINE utilises 2 channels of the texture for normals (x,y), 1 channel for diffuse… -

ah I forgot to post the render version on this thread ( click the grey bar to see the original size) as for the main guy ( guyver ) I manage to upload it on sketch fab, sure it doesnt have real time shadow, but i think sketchfab did a good job implementing PBR on browser.…
