The jaw still needs to be a touch more square, compared side by side, your face is either too tall, or too thin, the ref is way more of a cube and the front of the face needs to be more flat, almost all of the face should be in the front 20% of the head
thanks for your replies i know about the mitten problem, but at the same time who would want to expose their fingers in say -20 degrees celsius. The subtle shadows are in the ambient occlussion map. They arent all too visible with such a low ambient light though :/

Yes, they will be. The seems in your screen is not related to thin triangles . While thin triangles are not ideal you can't get rid of them completely for low poly game style models. But if you model for Arnold offline rendering you should use quad only modelling probably and use normal maps only for tiny hi frequency…
