Does anyone know if it is possible with some script or plugin (or simple trick?) to select edgeloops in Maya 8.5 on triangulated meshes? So far I had no luck with NEX, OMToolbox and maya's native edgeloop selection tool. Thanks!
I think that's a trick of the shading and a freshly cast, bare metal part that makes the 3d edges look softer and the real edges look sharper. Compare the textured wheel with 844's boxpok. The design differs a little, but the basic radius of the hole rims chamfer seems to be the same

If at all possible, try to encourage an upgrade to at least maya 2009. Maya 2008 was easily one of the most half-assed buggy and frustrating versions yet. Even 8.5 was a big step up.
Near the end of the SF data in the shader, it says: proporder:2-1037-1306-533-447-69-9-177-571-626-145-476 Remove -476 from that list, and it should work again. This is due to a bug that was in 0.29, in which you saved the shader, most likely
After reading about what you needed and the reviews, the last one you linked should be fine http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145598&cm_re=so_dimm_ddr2_800-_-20-145-598-_-Product
you could just go to file-->open-->options box and click 'ignore version'. works perfect. I often go between 8.5, '08 and '09 at work with no prob with ignore version checked.
ok, i'm pretty much lost on how to use this bad boy! anyone know of any good tutorials on how to properly install it? i'm refering to the .fx file and i'm using maya 8.5
