yes. you want to have controlled wear and tear. Have a look at this tutorial http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=46&t=373024 all of the primary scratches where the paint has worn off and its just metal underneath are hand painted on.

have a square plane as a subtool (optionally: with a grid texture on it) and build your stuff to tile from left to right and top to bottom, frame "f" with the plane subtool selected, hide it, document->zapplink to photoshop, remove minor seams. hope that helps dude:)
External platter drives are a bad idea, just too many physical pieces that can go wonky. SSD on the other hand, rock F-in solid. You can toss it off a bridge, run it over with a tank and still pull data off of it.
This script works fine in CS4 if a I run it through the scripts menu but when I assign it to a hotkey it brings up some java debugger thing, I'm not planning to use it assigned to an F key kind of defeats the purpose of the script. Any help?
if your using the newest version of CryEngine, it may be the resource compiler that is missing from the build. http://www.crydev.net/viewtopic.php?f=369&t=76713 I believe I had this issue a while back with both CE3 export and CryTiff, the above solved it.
oh yeah, the lovely unwrap editor... i vaguely recall setting some defaults in the UV unwrap ini file that's living somewhere in the max installation tree and write-protecting the little f**ker. uv unwrap has behaved ever since.

Occasionally, I'll go to the upper left-hand corner of a piece of paper, so I can open the File menu and save. When I'm at the store, or looking for something, I'll have the urge to press ctrl+f so I can find it.
