thanks snow! i made some changes to the garbage bags as you suggested. looking any better you think? (ignore the fact that one of the bags are floating) i also have to change the levels around abit to fix the seam on top of the bags :/
I don't know what possessed me to make the low res this dense, but it's finally complete. I had to take a few shortcuts and leave in some floating geometry, but I really need to be moving on to the rest of the process. It's going to be a busy two weeks!
I'm loving the environment work coming from this. as it is here's my progress on the incubator. couple of hours so far. screenie from blender.. honestly i'm not sure about the circle on the side. it's skewed.. may just floating geometry it and then blend it in 3d coat.
nice work. Personally I would add some floating/propulsion device to the harvester itself. It don't have to be physical correct, but something which indicates how it stays in the air and moves around (maybe some anti-grav pads, nozzles or similar
He's far closer to what I think of when I hear of a character called a gas giant though. I'd take that one and push it much further into a big, fat, floating farty guy. What's your sun guy look like?
I'll be honest. While this is pretty cool it reminds me more of the floating Kingdom of Zeal from "Chrono Trigger" than anything from Kirby. It's not bad, but you didn't hit the mark that would remind me of the cartoony and light hearted world of Kirby.
One thing about organic modeling is that it all has to flow together. That said, you should totally connect the arms and legs to the main model maintaining good topology. Floating gemotery (arms, legs,) on a character is not a good thing. Not a bad start though.:)
I second the snake hook brush, but also this sort of extraction/polish method might work for any floating geo or shapes that needs to be a bit more worked than snakehook allows. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/frozen-fan-art-breakdown-tuto
If you're after an electric guitar I'd go with Ibanez too. I'd choose a model without a floating bridge, they are painful to adjust and tune. If you want to play a specific type of music, that may help people making suggestions BTW. Good luck.
Baking from highpoly is always best in this case. It takes no time at all to make even a basic highpoly mesh, especially if all you're after is smoother surfaces with sharp edges, and some extra detail floating on top. For a model like this it should be easy.
