Got the wall and floor textures started today, and decided to take a screenie of my blockout so far. The lighting errors are from me just pasting the texture onto my block out material o_o but all in all I think this scene is coming together. Hope you like and Crits are welcome, and probably needed! =]
Started on the small environment I want to do with the gong. just blocked some stuff out. Im gonna try out world machine for this one I think. re-used an old ugly rock model as blockout mesh. going to try to add some cool snowing effect and wind. very WIP :D
Bibendum You can use the 2 in conjunction. Block out your scene in SketchUp, take a screen shot, paste it into Carapace and use the trace lines to set up a perspective grid. Now you not only have a blockout in 3D you have the grid to go with it! Check this out: http://ctrlpaint.com/videos/perspective-grid-utility/
damn Guedin, this is going to be ace! from your blockout I think that the body could do with being a litytle more waif like, thinner shoulders and a bit less on the hips....face is looking ace and the early hair test is excellent though....if you ever feel like sharing any tips on that then I will be first in line :D
Quick progress, some clothing blockouts! Seeing her with clothes has given me a fresher perspective and I think I'll slim down the arms some more, they look a bit chunky still to me. Hopefully that tail doesn't look like its coming out of her butt, I'm thinking of adding an underskirt.
Worked a bit more on the scene and did some blockouts. Especially the cloth planes at the sides are only for general shape and will receive a proper sculpting/texturing pass. Also created some lamps (still need to be textured) and worked a bit more on overall atmosphere. Might be a bit too colorful at the moment but I can…
Given how heavily stylized and organic most shapes are in this concept you'll probably get an expoentially better result sculpting out most of your props in Zbrush. Not only will it be fun, but you'll get incredibly detailed maps for your low poly. Regardless of what you choose though, your blockout is coming along quite…
It depends how low poly your character needs to be. You could possibly get away with using an 8 sided cylinder and blockout the leg. Then just add a few verts to the some of that silhoutte of the chains and bake it out and see what it looks like. If it looks TOO flat then you could add a bit more geo.
looking great man! I think you overdid the face though, I love the clean form you had in your blockout, and thats sadly kind of lost now in all the detail and wrinkles. I also think you can do ad more hair, make it bigger and more "swooshy" (thats a word...now). :)
Ok, so I finally got around to doing a detail pass on the face! I also fixed up the polypaint to be more accurate. And here's what it looks like with the hair blockout. I wanted to get the rough volumes around the head in place before detailing the face, to get a better idea of how the likeness is coming along.
