Thanks for the suggestions guys! I tried the scene and it didn't work, only thing it captured was AO if I baked with MR. BUT I got a response back from Autodesk and it works! They had me do a clean install but on their list was to remove BackBurner (I didn't do that previously) and the 32bit version of max (which I didn't…
OK, that sums up the problem, you're new to this, so I can see why you're having problem, don't worry, it's not hard to get on it. Here are some tutorials on to get a hard surface modeling going on: Tire: http://eat3d.com/free/modeling-tire-3ds-max Support Loops:…
I dug up Week 3 challenge and decided to try something. As engineering student I realize lots of this mechanical stuff is much easier to model in 3d CAD software. So I tried creating a model in Autodesk Inventor and then import it for some nice renders. Wire The whole thing took me literally 10 minutes to model. While…
Now i am using Tension Morpher in the model provided by Autodesk in the following serie of video tutorials about rigging and skinning techniques: http://www.youtube.com/user/3dsMaxHowTos/videos?view=0 I am appreciating them and learning so much about. And all the stuff needed to perform the classes (including the models…
I disagree completely. Maya is a tool built specifically for animation, effects, and rendering. Autodesk has completely ignored maya's fundamental flaws in their polygon modeling workflow, and they are consciously aware of this. Predator I learned Maya's workflow pretty quickly, and it just doesn't compare to the flow that…
second time I've posted this link in a thread but it looks great with having 512 levels of pressure sensitivity: http://www.axiotron.com/index.php?id=modbook A little expensive if all you want is a sketchpad but it is after all a macbook at its heart (so it functions as a normal laptop as well.) Its also the same size as a…
I tried that model bank, registration doesnt work for me, and anonymous access also was kinda weird and often resulted into issues with that weird file browser they have, but thanks anyway will try to get access again, wasnt aware of the place. the anonymous access files however were too simple and not "typically game…
The mental ray padding makes it unusable, no matter what you're baking. I'm not sure which version it started doing it 2011 or 2012 but I can't use it until they fix it. That's total garbage. Not to mention it applies the wrong background color to the normal map, even if its set correctly in RTT. Annoying but can be worked…
A few bugs: When double clicking the shelf for the option box, I get: # Error: TypeError: file C:\apps\Autodesk\Maya2016.5\Python\lib\site-packages\pymel\internal\pmcmds.py line 134: Invalid arguments for flag 'v'. Expected int, got unicode # If multiple curves are drawn to the same poly surface, the start or end points…
No worries, it just takes time and an eye for detail. Sculpting isnt so hard, you just need to build the technique and have an eye for what looks good. Sculpting is important for getting some great organic and even hard surface normal maps. Try playing around with sculptris as well, you will find it a bit more...beginner…
