I've noticed the same change and it really has been bothering me. I've been doing 3D art for over a decade not counting art school and in that time I've watched my talents grow tenfold but my client pool and revenue stream hasn't improved with me, if anything it's gotten worse. I feel like I spent so much time refining my…
Have to agree with @Noren , @ZacD , and @pior : both the contiguous unwrap and compound curvature of the shape are contributing to the distortion in a way that's almost unavoidable with a [tiling] texture only approach. Lot's of good advice on how to proceed with different approaches from everyone in this thread. As far as…
any of the above. If something is too high poly, retopologise it -- anything you get from any program will likely be high poly, its the only way to get those wrinkles, from there you make the decision about what needs to be geometry and what can be handled by a normal map. Model the shape manually without wrinkles and with…
It looks pretty good, but its difficult to tell whats normal maps, and what is diffuse texture. It'd be helpful to post 3 versions. Low poly, low poly with normals, high poly(if you did a high poly), and the final with diffuse texture. Texture flats might also be nice.
Heyhey supercool! Digging the green, spotty, bumpy skintone. Would you mid showing some flats? My only crit would go for the pipes, they look a bit overdone in terms of volume faking. Simple patterns might work better. Is that an Xnormal glow we see here? Nice touch!
The main issue is that I can’t find a suitable shader. Initially, I used a toon shader and took the outline from it as well. However, I’m not very satisfied with the result: the image looks quite flat, and the specular doesn’t behave the way I’d like. The gradients also make the render feel overly stylized. After that, I…
I think tightening the dress right under the armpits and having that other piece of cloth (the stuff that goes down to the ring) fold aroung the arm like a tight t-shirt, should be closer to the concept and help to get rid of this "broad shoulder look". The body is really well done... only the thumb looks a bit strange,…
hmm, the face puts me off. Doesnt look like someone who can hold up in a fight, looks more like a fat old drunk who happened to have found some fancy pharao items and put them on. In other words, he looks old an weak. The back issues have been mentioned by others, so I wont comment on that further. The shield looks nice,…
Looks good so far, the tricep should pop out a little further up into the deltoid. The deltoid is also pushing forward to much when it connects down the side of the bicep. The collar bone is too far forward and should fit furher back sticking out of the center/top as the delt wraps around it. The surface on the top of the…
