everyone has this happen eventually. A few times it's applies nearly perfectly. Other times its all kinds of fubar. Only way I know is using the morph target switch on the low subd level to minimize it. A. View your models with normal map applied, looking at your normal map in photoshop will not tell you anything. View it in your target engine as well. B. Apply smoothing groups to each uv island, this will likely help. Textools has a feature to do this automatically. More on that topic here:… -
Re: Bevel not working
It`s probably a non manifold face between your inner shape and your outer shape. Delete the flat face and manually extrude out the edges from the inner shape and target weld them to the outer shape. After that you should be able to bevel. You can also run Mesh -> Cleanup and check for non manifold geo. -

Well, the Geforce 1070 and 1080 just launched with 8gb of vram, the 1060 is rumored to have 6gb of vram, and even the current consoles have about 5gb of usable ram. Its fine to target 8gb vram, just make sure your minimum spec doesn't require anywhere near that so that you can capture as wide of audience as possible. -

I forgot which Version of Maya added this, but theres the "Transfer Maps" Tool which is in the "Rendering" Menu-Set in the "Lighting/Shading" Drop-Down. That's a nice business card you've got their. Back at GDC08 a few people had demo reel / buisness card combos, using mini-dvds, which I personally thought was a great idea. Used to see dics cut to the shape of buisness cards at places like Wal-Mart and Target even, but not sure if they make burnable ones like that... -
