I agree with poop there, "virtual displacement mapping" has a better ring to it than "offset bump mapping." -

Tarnish/dirt is exactly what I'm going for :) This is supposed to be a somewhat old barrel - those metal rings shouldn't exactly be pristine. -

I'd say lord of the rings is probably one of the best mixtures of cgi and actors. Can't imagine it being solely one or the other.
