I think these studies are displaying a blossoming creativity in creature character design, color, and expression. I'm seeing a lot of good things in your work and just wanted to say, just stay on this steady course! Great breakthroughs are on the horizon.
WIP blockout of a new creature piece i started tonight. I sketched out the design for last year's inktober. I'll be recording my process for this one too, hopefully Zbrush doesn't crash too much ∗ •́ ڡ •̀ ∗
Just wrapped up my first proper 3D creature project Exodus, The Plague Bearer I really enjoyed the challenge of this character and it's a great feeling to step away from my comfort zone and not have completely failed
Choose a concept and recreate it. Otherwise, you need to pitch to us and clarfy for yourself what the exact nature of this concept is. The only thing telling me that this creature is aquatic is fins, but you have more opportunity to make it more interesting.
Did this roughly for Giles Ruscoe, we swapped some creature concepts to sculpt. I'll update my own shortly. Here's Giles's sculpt of my derpy dog lizard thing: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/14324914/pagon.jpg
fanaminal? Neat. Can't wait to find out what that is. Some kind of adoring creature I should imagine. Game looks decidedly average from the shots. But I'll refrain from judgement til I see it in motion.
There was an interview with Del Toro on NPR this morning in which he shares some fascinating tidbits about inspiration, story, creature concepts etc. You can hear it here: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=7000935
Yeah I'm gonna agree with some past remarks and he is starting to look like he is a sculpt rather than a living creature. Maybe just tone down the surface detail / texture a bit and make it more subtle.
Sure you don't mean Kevin Lanning? It's a copy and paste of part of his section in the Character Modeling 2 D'Artiste book. Very good stuff. I like how they say on the last page that the Wretch is a "fowl" creature
Cool creature concept, only thing i would say is that he seems pretty stiff. I would try a more interesting pose or maybe a full turnaround with 3/4 view? Im looking forward to the model.
