yeah there is ways to build your geometry with far fewer polys same shading and silhouette just look at the wireframes of everyone elses 3d models that you can find all over this forum. to answer your question: "yes" work on your lowpoly workflow :)
Ok, had a few things that came up, had to deal with em, but now I'm back! (I hope...) Ok, here are the wireframe that I promised about a month ago it seems. This is still the same one, I have had time to tinker with it yet.
Finished the model a while ago, forgot to upload the wireframe of that. Here's a texture update though. Still some work to go, especially on boots, and hair isn't even started yet. EDIT: Also, apologies for the low quality jpeg. The next update will be better quality.
Haha yeh, didn't even think about that! Does anybody know why my wireframe isn't showing up properly on some of my girls meshes. Her dungarees show up fine but nothing else does. Its just little dots :/
hmm its a ton indeed :D thx the wirefram grabbed to my inspiration folder... yeah i saw that, pf... he went nuts ..lots of to study. awesome details X.x I have to dig to this heigh map mixing normal map process
First thing I noticed. The pockets on the front of the pants could use a low poly box shape to pop them out. The chest looks really flat, a wireframe would help, It just looks like a flat chest with a boob crease baked into the texture.
Absolutely beautiful! The style is very nice. I had to chuckle a bit when I saw the wireframe of his armor, the design is so beautifully optimized that you never notice how low poly some areas actually are. Keep up the awesome work.
Hey thanks all for the comments. For the lighting in general, I think I'm gonna simply try a render in a real-time engine... :) I'll do some wireframe snapshots tonight ! (but keep in mind the wire is made to use the vertices color set (for the blend or AO))
Just a quick comment, I wouldn't mind seeing some more breakdowns and wireframes for your sets. For your space station, you state that it has a heavy use of tiling and modular components... why not show off the breakdowns and texture sheets? Best of luck!
Yeah if you show your wireframes and UV's and state what your target is, and you are posting on a regular basis, there is people who can help point out what you can do better. It's just people helping people, not like a service or anything.
