regarding the second image, mudbox switches to vertex display mode while rotating after you reach a certain amount of polys to reduce lag. -

the great thing is that the way its mapped all i have to do is delete the mesh, as the inserts are using only a tiny amount of space. will do -

yeah while it's ideal to have the least amount of smoothing groups as possible sometimes getting it all down to 1 is just not worth the extra polys. -

Remember most characters in MGS games wear masks, thats why they can blow insane amount of polys on the heads of non-masked characters. -

Use the Vertex Color map type in the Mix Amount slot of a Mix Map, and put your two bitmaps in the other two Mix slots. -

I think I got it. Seems like units setup caused objects to be considered extremely small and that prevented ALT+mouseMove to control segments amount.
