I love the new brick texture, blows the old one out of the water. I would suggest maybe adding some pops of color here and there... maybe flowers in the grass or some green mossy detail on the plaster/stucco? Good luck! I think I might attempt this too and see how far I can get! :) -

Have you thought about using camera facing sprites for your tree leaves? I'm not sure what perspective you plan on going for, but at the ground level 1st person/3rd person view the cross/plane method can look pretty rough with a limited face count. The sprites might lend to the old school feel a bit too. -

Pix: thanks a lot for this! i havent posted in a long while, but now i have more free time, so i thought i would resurect this old sketchbook. heres my latest sketches; they are all just sketches, im thinking that i should make a finished piece soon, to not get too comfortable not finishing stuff. -

Forgive me for taking so long to reply. I'll admit, I didn't want to overdo it. Too often I see (and do) super dirty, scratched and old looking materials, so I did want something more clean. I understand it stands out, though, and thank you for pointing it out. Appreciate you stopping by! -

Hey, seems like I flagged a spam filter or something when updating the text of an old sketchbook thread I created awhile back but never ended up using. I thought it would be nice to try to get in the habit of posting here and wanted to do a rewrite on that first. Sorry if hitting edit too much caused any trouble. -

I think her face looks a little too generic still. Decide how old you want her to be and what nationality/race and commit more of that to the face. The clothes look really good. Maybe add some fun little details, things tied to her backpack, maybe a necklace or a scarf? Give her more character damnit! -

I did what you recommended, I've made the height of the character longer as the she was really too short hence the shortness of her legs, shortened the neck a little bit and used references from good old trusty google, Andrew Loomis's anatomy book and 3DSK to get the anatomy quite right. -

I get this lots too on max9 - all drivers etc. are up to date. turning off cached meshes in the dx options makes this stop happening for me at the expense of SLOOOOOW viewports. usually happens when i have a ton of stuff in the scene. I shall try the old collapse-reset-xform bonanza next time it happens.
