This is Maya, but probably translate-able to Max: Create a sphere with a # of subdivision axii(spelling?), the edges that radiate from one pole to another, divisible by 4 (ie. 8, 12, 16, 20, etc), then delete every other edge at the poles...

can anyone confirm that is is possible to work realtime on a model with like 20 million polys or more? or is it like mudbox and requires loads of ram and cpu power and most people end up dividing the mesh into parts to get all the details in?
Optional - There's a setting that multiplies the sun intensity. ‘Photometric light scale’ in Maya. By default it's set to 20. Set that to 1 and your sun will act just like a normal light. Or you can lower the sun's intensity to somewhere around 0.004-0.005
They do deserve an award for that Diner scene in the beginning. Think I spent a good 20 min just wandering back and forth, taking in the environment and atmosphere. A shame there is not more of that. Refuse to play the game in full though until the fixes and added options are in.
I feel like 3d modelers will be just a hobby in like 20 years. I mean with the steam market, turbosquid and others, it's only a matter of time before companies can just buy what they need rather than paying workers.
