I personally would look into making the wrap more natural in the High Poly. Authentic sword design in LOTR lore and in medieval era's, would use heavy leather strips that would be wrapped and riveted onto the handle usually. Right now you just have ridges. I think with the hilt usually being the most decorative part of…
Texture process looks solid. The idea is neat. The design is a bit messy. It looks like the wraps were sloppy put on all over the place. Centralizing the wraps in the grabby area will also help separate the wraps from the handle wood base too. Right now it blends in. When you zoom out things just sort of get mashed…
now nothing , it was just a bad extrusion of one of the stripes wrapped arount the sticks.... But I sincerely think that this is not the best way of making a wrapping around something ... what woud be the best way or approach considering also 33dsmax and not just zbrush? I have tought of spline paths but is not that easy…
Looking good so far. I'm looking forward to some updates. As for the ropes, may i suggest something like this: Having the rope actually in the texture is going to be hard considering the rope actually has to wrap around the peices of wood. With actually modeling the rope you can wrap it around anything you want freely, and…
Thanks for the feedback everyone! I was pretty tired last night when I posted but wanted to get it out there for some feedback since I have a few days off work and some time to make adjustments. BeserK - I agree on both points, thanks for the feedback! I will definitely sharpen up the blade and tighten up the wrap.…
Thanks guys :) I tried a couple of techniques for making the bandages before I settled more or less on a combination of the layer brush and the clay brush. I started with the layer brush with a square alpha and a pretty low intensity, and started "wrapping" a bandage shape around a section. I followed that up with the clay…
I just fried some chicken but realized I was lacking the key ingredient for the Quesedillas I planned to make! Cheese. I finished all of the cheese last night and forgot! What do I do polycount chefs!? I need a quick easy chicken recipe. I'm thinking of throwing it into wraps, but once again, that would require some…
That's looking so cool so far!! To be honest I think I originally intended them to be horns but we could always see what looks better on the hi poly. I think I will leave that distinction up to you. As for a wrap on the handle... I think it could either work with wraps, as an ornamental handle(adding in some twisted…
Okay! First I want to compliment you again on how good it looks! I wouldn't be writing a critique this if your work wasn't this nice, and I'm looking forward your to next pieces. I've got pretty much only anatomy pointers. I tried to color-code so they're easier to read but the text colors are changing once posted, haha.…
[ QUOTE ] Yeah, I've seen that demonstrated by a Discreet rep, it looks -very- useful. I believe it's call Skin Wrap. At the least, it's good for getting a "1st pass" rig; but I imagine sometimes it would be just about good enough for final, depending on how different the two models are. [/ QUOTE ] I've been using Skin…
