Most inspirational game I've played recently is Flower. Definitely a pinnacle of game design. I'd say it's one of the best designed games of all times. Not really what you'd be looking for if you just want typical next gen art stuff though. :P
Looking nice. I am looking forward to seeing this turned into a nice current gen asset. There was someone who did a homeworld baseturret from the pre-release concept art on these forums. If you do some hunting, you can possibly get some inspiration.
At the end of the day its about being realistic; and well it reflects your skill especially if its going towards your portfolio. You need to optimize where possible and ensure its appropriate to current gen. :) But yes as said, have fun and learn a lot in the process!
I'm just saying, I don't think this is that unique-looking as a feature set - we've done more primitive real-time deformation in an open-world game on the 360, and the current Burnout does something similar, I believe. This doesn't seem "next-gen" to me.
new PSU.. they're cheap .. and as high a wattage as you can afford. the reason I say this is if you are keeping your GFX card it will likely last you a year or so and then you'll want to upgrade that too, and I think with current gen cards that PSU will melt..
I just picked up Prototype 2 recently, too - I loved the hell out of the first one. If any talented polycounters are looking to move to California to make exciting Next-Gen New IPs, Ready at Dawn is hiring a variety of roles: http://www.readyatdawn.com/
Your work is mediocre. It looks very last-gen. Appy to all jobs that you can at every company you can. Its not surprising you havent found a job yet. You've only been looking for one month, and only applied to 20 places.
1. Finish University, hopefully with a BA degree. 2. Redesign/streamline portfolio site. 3. Get more solid, next-gen fully finished characters in aforementioned portfolio. 4. Get a good studio job. 5. Spend more time with my girlfriend.
Dark crystal 2 is confirmed and Brian Froud has already submitted designs for it. Tis CG too. Gen and Keira are back, this time its war! just kidding, but all the rest is true. your not a gelfling... Gelfing die long ago... you CANT BE GELFLING!
Kind of odd, I guess the sensationalism finally got to EA. I mean.. EA owns Renderware.. probably Unreals largest competitor. Really tho, the unreal engine titles on the 360 are about the only ones that look next gen.. not always.. but quite often anyways.
