Thank you Eric, I'll try that. Maya 2016 comes with a PBR shader called Stingray PBS but didn't try it yet. Anyone here did? Anyway, I think you can't render that shader with MentalRay or Turtle renderers and that's what I need. It would be nice from you at Quixel to add some tutorials about how to take what is made in…
AlexCatMasterSupreme: Thanks a lot! Gearman: Thanks man. We really had a lot of fun with it. Eric Terry did a great job with the posters. There are a lot of little inside jokes on the posters. One of them is of me...one of them is of Rick...one of them has some of our environment artist on there..one is the button from the…
Yep that's what I meant really. bgoodsell, that's interesting about using PS for the 3D side of things. I've only played with it briefly but found it a bit clunky! Maybe I'll need to play with it a bit more. Well the height map is mostly if I was thinking of doing a parallax map, but could also be used to some effect in…
Have you read Eric Zimmerman's Manifesto for the Ludic Century? http://www.kotaku.com.au/2013/09/manifesto-the-21st-century-will-be-defined-by-games/ He is just one of many Game Design/Theory academics that definitely believe that games will expand and explore the concepts you are looking for. Also like most books and…
Thanks Eric. Unfortunately most tutorials don't explain falloff and edge detection settings. So it mostly miss and hit. I get more predictable results yet with 3dmax fallofs and ctrl_occlusion/ dirt shaders with its curve based adjustments. As of errors I have mostly two kind of errors. The preview window stops updating…
3dmaxter, you issue is 90% the very low amount of ram on your computer. You probably have windows 7 and that also uses up 50-70% of your existing ram. Anyway, I did some tests and manage to get directional lightmaps working using noors method (Thanks Eric). It was trivial since shaderfx already has a node for that. However…
Thanks for the reply Eric, and sorry for taking so long to reply myself. I took your feedback on board and have updated the design a lot. I spent a while fleshing out the bird idea, exploring a more "bird of prey" silhouette. On advice from tutors at uni and inspired by a piece by Anthony Jones i dropped the mech and the…
I agree with Eric, its also better to use separate meshes because most engines can cull a few pieces that aren't seen (roof, windows, walls ect) and help performance rather than keeping the whole building visible because you can see a tiny corner of it. Or worse, it bases it's visibility culling calculation on the objects…
Eric Chadwick said: A link would help. I wasn't sure if posting a link was cool or not so I left it out. Here is a link to their tutorials: http://libelstudios.com/zbrush/videocursos/ I have tried using my credit card and have tried contacting them through facebook, email, and the contact at the site. Someone did respond…
I'm following this closely, because I'm encoutering the same problem ! And I don't really get why it appears so strongly in your models like in mine, when at other's work it seems unnoticeable with the same technique ! :whyme: Eric, did you add new pages at the "Modular environments" wiki ? There seems to be more, and with…
