to go against the grain I don't think you need to start with drawing at all, and its a shame no one here has yet mentioned the courses scott eaton offers on digital figure sculpting and anatomy.
I'm just finishing up the CG Workshops "Become a Better Artist" course which is all about digital 2d art, so I'll probably be looking for a good incentive to practice what I've learned.
Fantastic work, mate. That tooth fairy gets me every time. I love Steve Wang's work, I just wish more of his stuff was so effectively translated into a digital format.
Great piece there mate, it's not much but it shows how well you can take a modest/humble reference and digitize it. This is an ability that i miss sometimes. You don't always need over complicated refs to work on.
Thanks for the suggestion guys. I'm downloading Xubuntu and mint for some test drives. I'm loving this old laptop it's great as a portable digital sketchpad, but it's not a powerhouse so hopefully Linux will help with some of the resource issues.
The models are super cool! I'm looking forward to seeing how you'll texture the maresleg, for sure. And that Hellboy is adorable...! I think I love your clay sculpts just as much as your digital ones.
Indeed. Back than it was Yahoo, or AOL, but not many resources. The only way I learned how to make the texture and UVs for Maya is via Maya tutorial on making a cereal box, and some of Digital Tutors DVDs...
Oniram: Nice man, thanks for the feedback. I wanted to preserve the curvature of the grip digits but I could definitely bring it down in there. I'm digging your environments and gun models on your site, very nice.
enough of being so quiet lately, time to get back on the ball... here's some stuff i've recently been working on (mostly digital paintings) and more to come... especially in the coming next three weeks
I don't know. I like creatures so I wanted to make creatures. Since I don't exactly have the resources of monster artist's studio, I have to settle for 3d digital graphics.
