Study of my favourite digital painting by Xiaoyu Wang, Original is here. Don't know why this didn't appear when I submitted it the first time. EDIT: Apparently pending approval. Problem solved.
Hi all, I'm a student at Digital Arts &Entertainment @Howest Kortrijk and this is my very first handpainted work. I modelled it in 3Ds Max and handpainted in Photoshop. Hope you all like it! model
Sorry about that Maximus. Thank you guys for the positive feedback so far! The digital section loads for me, I'm using Chrome. Maybe try a cache clear I guess? Or a different browser.
I have the Cintiq 13HD. I love it a lot for digital painting, but I'm beginning to dislike it for sculpting. Feels too small, and I feel stupid sculpting on a screen half the size of my monitor.
I always figured you'd have quite a bit of experience with zBrush. That said.. wouldn't this have made sense to go in the digital sketchbooks section? Keep it up man! You're learning very quickly ;)
Personally I think that (for so many reasons) its time to put photoshop to bed and actually have a digital image editing tool which isn't 20 years old and designed for print media.
+1 for this. Also, you can subscribe to digital tutors who have really good focused training in practically all technical aspects of max, as well as the creative development series for improving your art.
Why do you need Adobe CC? Just get Photoshop CC in the digital photography package for $10/month. No opinion on Maya LT, Modo Indie and Blender are both reasonable alternatives though.
Just in case you didn't check these; (1) 3ds max lighting by Nicholas Boughen (2) Digital lighting and rendering by Jeremy Birn Among many great sources for CG lighting, these are my favorite.
