Most 3d printers from kickstater have been shipped and released. This project has a basically final design. Kickstarter is always a risk, but projects like these tend to have minimal risk. If you don't have $300 to potentially throw a way, don't but it. But there isn't any complete $300 3d printers of this caliber for sale… -

I've not seen that sort of thing happen before. Does it only happen with images that big? What graphics card are you using? If you want Mari with lower than GL 3.2, you're probably looking at the 2.X series... if your graphics card/drivers doesn't support 3.2 you're probably not going to be able to run Mari very well at… -

EarthQuake hit the nail on the head with his response. The short answer is "it depends". Simply saying a character should be 2x 2048 textures and 30k-70k triangles is assuming quite a lot. Is the character intended for use in a 1st person game? 3rd person? If the character is for a top-down RTS game you certainly won't be… -

I'm actually a bit surprised people thought it would be under 300. It's new tech, even if the graphics aren't a complete generation forward (but still better). So, it did go well according to plan! There is quite a lot of empty UV space left from the fact the catsuit takes fringes of the UDIMS, so I guess I’ll use that space for the props. The sculpt of the catsuit needs more iteration, it’s not smoothed enough to my taste and it feels crumbly whereas I’d like it to feel smoother… -
