Hey guys! This is our early WIP of our in engine character. There is still a lot missing like hair and snow. We also have a unreal forum thread here Real time in unreal engine 4 In engine video: https://vimeo.com/143301230 Cheers!
Apparently it has been tweaked. I've read in some news and on wikipedia that the engine used is the Valve's Source Engine. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titanfall http://games.on.net/2013/06/respawns-game-revealed-as-titanfall-a-source-engine-multiplayer-game-with-giant-mechs/
hey earthquake, All the BF games I have worked on use world space normal maps on the characters. So it is dependent on the engine. For BF2\2142 stuff they are created as tangent space then converted to world when imported into the engine. There is probably other engines that are similar.

So I've done a bit of testing with normal maps in Unreal to see how optimal I could make my results, after testing different things for years. Depending on the render engine, there should be an auto LOD system that uses tessellation to work, so the animation would work normally. i think all big engines have a auto LOD system, or you can manually set the LOD meshes and the engine will do the vertex weighting automatically.
I'm not sure what the problem is. You put the key in. Some lights came on. You started the engine. The lights went off. Sounds normal to me. edit: If there's a problem, the lights will stay on while you're driving. It's normal for lights (brake, oil, engine, etc.) to be on before the engine starts.
This shows how (almost) any engine can be used for quality production, as long as the artist's and developers have a vision and stay dedicated to it. Who would have guessed this is Unity engine? All the underdeveloped and cheap games that are made with it don't do the engine justice! Great work!
