Yeah i abandoned the substance method for now but im definately gonna come back to it. as for the brick texture I was gonna go with a height map to make some bricks stand out more. Do you think this is a good method ? still very new to this and its tricky finding good tips but i will trawl… -

@kdm3d - averaging the normals just hardened the edge. After tinkering around within the 'Normals' tab, I quickly discovered that putting in the correct value in the 'Set Vertex Normal' tool, sets the Normals perpedicular to the face without hardening them. I can imagine that was command/tool that you couldnt quite… -

eric v just get laid man . I agree completely with racer , i would also resize the texture because the image is huge and the mistakes are more glaring that way :D , it also seems like it is straight out of the factory :( also another background would be nice so that the gun doesnt blend in so much , really solid modeling… -

Ahh yes. Eric showed me UV Paint in the big max script/plugins thread. Damn nice for doing architectural stuff. It has it's downfalls though. You have to convert the object to editable mesh (iew) and then unweld all of the UVs (major iew). After that, it's cake. Then you have to reweld the UVs and convert back to editable…
