Hey everyone. Hard surface is dragging me down and Im still struggling with it. So I thought I would take a break from that and try to model Rick from Rick and morty. My first attempt at a character model, but I know most basic things still apply. Its a WIP and Id love critiques or ways I can do things better. Currently…

Currently working on a bit more of a stylised character based on this concept design: https://imgur.com/g7YcY0L This is actually from a course I'm doing, but hopefully it will retain my own identity/flare rather than being an exact copy of the instructor's version. So far, it does. :) I decided to replace the arms with the…
I don't claim to know exactly how the artists pulled off the things in your shots, but I've recently experimented with terrain in more VFX geared software like Houdini and you would be surprised at out much control you can have to whip up some pretty cool terrain relatively quickly. There's also some pretty good tutorials…
Wow, this is great ! I'll try to do something like that. But I'm confused on the workflow to follow. Working on hard surfaces is quite hard for me, and I don't know when to get away from maya and begin to sculpt in Zbrush. Also Zbrush always makes "organic-ish" shapes in my hands, but that's another problem.
Well I believe talent is simply a will to work hard, obsessively even, on developing a particular skill. If you define it like that then I'd say 90% If, on the other hand, you see it as a fru fru notion of a special gift from the heavens then definitely 0%... It's all hard work, sweat and tears with an occasional…
oh and i also got a mouse sculpted up.. just spent about an hour and a half on him.. so hard to get those little hands right and get his proportions to look right, its hard to even see what's going on under the fluff.. but I'm learning so its all good

@lotet Let's say he wrapped the handle with leather and then pin a lot of runic metal pieces to give him more strenght during the fights ! and the pins avoid his sweaty hands to drop it  Some progress: -I worked on the body, refining the feets and the hands. I'll add wrinkles, veins and all the details after the…
So it's been awhile I got to work on her but I feel like I've made some decent progress with the time I have. I've retopo'd her face including other parts, refined some of the pointy edges and worked on the hands. The hands do need some more work cause the fingers don't look right, too thin and triangular. Her face still…
